The Road to Oz is Cracked with Dreams
The Road to Oz is Cracked with Dreams
The road to Oz is cracked with dreams,
where Tik-Tok ticks his copper gears,
and dancing hammers sew their seams,
while laughter hides Oogaboo’s fears.
A fox king plots with pompous pride--
The road to Oz is cracked with dreams,
so Jack Pumpkinhead lost his ride,
his gourd head stuffed with straw and schemes.
A Nome King sulks in crystal beams,
as a Woozy sparks when he’s annoyed.
The road to Oz is cracked with dreams,
where magic's rules are half-destroyed.
A quilted girl hums spells off-key,
while a zebra spouts what truth means,
as a hungry tiger sips tea—
The road to Oz is cracked with dreams.

This quatern form poem was prompted by DVerse Poets Pub, and of course, with a respectful nod to L. Frank Baum for everything he gave us.

The sooner the better...
This sounds like magic gone wrong in Oz
ReplyDeleteYou read all the books, too! I read only some of them but remember some of the ridiculous magical characters.
