The Arthritic God

The Arthritic God

He is an old cat

languishing wrapped in sunshine,

well-fed, much loved.

His needs are dutifully met by others,

his wants all past paid.

Bed to box to buffet,

repeat.

Slowly.

His only desire -

Unattainable.

The ability to run after prey, and catch it.

  3. Most of us have owned/had/seen that cat, who is 15 and loved. This resonates as a metaphor for me as well. Being 78 and disabled, I dream of chasing after life.

  11. This could be my much-loved boy cat "wrapped in sunshine,

well-fed, much loved." He can still run, but he can't jump up. 💙

  12. The description is spot-on. A purrfect decription of watching a dear furry friend/family member grow older. I really enjoyed this.

  13. Chris - the idea of the cat as a god is ingenious. I love this!
