First Snow

The first snow had just fallen,
and for a brief cotton-soft moment,
the sounds of urban life
translated to giggles.

I was huddling in a frosted truck,
waiting for a late train
to take me where I didn't want to go,
wrestling with words.

This Quadrille (44 word poem) prompted, as usual, by those chill dudes over at DVerse Poets.

  1. I love how the first snow act as a gentle interlude to all those things we don't want to do.

  4. Chris, I like how the snow softened the mood, if only for a moment. It makes me wonder where he's headed and the conversation that will unfold there.
