A Cherita

Intoxicating,

tasty and sweet,
or sharp-edged and smoky.

Tastes mature,
and sampling has a limit,
but we all eventually find our favorite libation.

When we date, we add and subtract from an ideal
trading up, playing the field
as we grow into ourselves -

spoused and bound,
or roving according to appetite,

Interacting.

-----
The Cherita is an interesting form, fully explained by those balanced yet boisterous folks over at DVerse Poets.

  2. I agree with Andrew, and you got the balance just right, Chris. I love the contrasts in ‘tasty and sweet, / or sharp-edged and smoky’, and ‘spoused and bound, / or roving according to appetite’.
