You Taste of Spring
You Taste of Spring
Seasons change
and so do seasonings;
soups with root vegetables
are now spring salads,
casseroles give way to grilled meats,
woodstove becomes campfire.
Holly is forgotten as honeysuckle blooms -
your lips taste of blueberries,
your smile is sunshine,
you pull me from hibernation's cave.

ReplyDeleteSuch a warm and tasty poem with a joyful conclusion. Thinking of an old bear crawling out of the cave and shaking the dust off in the sunshine.
