My Town
MY TOWN
Come, walk these streets, these paths of town –
where history walks hand in hand with tomorrow.
This place where noisy brood of barnyard
has given way to commerce’s gold crown,
where folks leave behind sorrow
to join in pleasures of work, soft or hard.
This Quadrille (44 word poem) was prompted by the fun folks over at DVERSE.
I would love to know what you thought about this piece.

I love the way the crown is molded and formed new and yet made from all that is old. Enjoyed.
ReplyDeletecommerce's gold crown indeed, Chris - that was perfectly written.

I really like this--the way the past walks with the future in the city. I always think about that when I walk in Philadelphia.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the lines rhyme with each other :)
ReplyDeleteLife is full of changes indeed. You captured that wonderfully here Christopher!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the cold hand of gentrification has killed yet a town.
