MARKET
In the crowded morning market’s susurrant hum,
vendors jabber over yesterday’s oranges,
or shellfish fresh off the docks this morning,
while coins clink like pocket windchimes,
and nearby a sparrow
who has seen it all
spills its own twinkling gossip
into the sunlit air.

A vivid snapshot, Chris, and I love all the sounds, very atmospheric. I especially love the sparrow spilling ‘its own twinkling gossip into the sunlit air’.

I love the idea of a gossiping sparrow as well. Nicely done poem.
ReplyDeleteThis made me think of 'the birds are spies' meme.
